Christmas message 2009
A Christmas message from Graham Stuart MP: “The decorations are up, the shops – despite the current economic climate – appear to be bursting at the seams and I cannot wait to spend Christmas day with my family.
Christmas is a time when we stop, think and – perhaps – even do more to help those less fortunate than ourselves.
The end of the year is a time to take particular care of those who are elderly, frail, or lonely. The best Christmas present can often be as simple as some company or a kindly act.
The festive period may just give busy people that little extra time to stop and help – to spend time with a neighbour or provide some joy in the life of a lonely relative.
My thoughts also go out to all those who can’t be with their loved ones this year, perhaps because of illness or distance.
In particular I would like to send my very best wishes to all those who have family or friends in our armed forces.
Whether in Afghanistan or elsewhere in the world – I salute them and their loved ones for the sacrifice they are making to keep us all safe.
Whatever you have planned for the holidays, I hope all of you enjoy spending time with family and friends and that your festive celebrations are happy and relaxing.
I know that this year has been busy and eventful with campaigners continuing the struggle against plans to build an incinerator at Saltend, the Government refusing to allow the Humber Bridge Tolls to rise and the Shoreline Management Plan going out to public consultation.
I’m sure that the coming year will bring new challenges for all of us and I wish everyone the best of luck with whatever new plans they have.
Lastly I would like to thank all the people of the Beverley and Holderness constituency for making my life so rewarding in allowing me to represent them in Parliament.
I enjoy every second of my exciting and extremely satisfying job and I look forward to continuing my work in the New Year.
As always please don’t hesitate to get in touch if I can help you with any problems, address any issues or answer any questions, I’m always happy to help.
Again, I wish you and all your family and friends a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Mr Stuart comments on a busy year which includes the campaign against plans to build an incinerator at Saltend. He also praises our troops serving in Afghanistan and other areas of the world for the sacrifice they are making to keep us all safe. [...]
We appreciated getting your Christmas message and thank you for switching on Burstwick tree lights.
I had not realised how extensive your website had become and am hugely impressed by the amount of information it contains. I like the list of future plans. Local people have never been kept so informed about the work their MP is doing on their behalf or had such an easy way to write back!
You have no hiding place!
I wonder if there is a way to make more people aware of your internet connections with them?
Wishing you and your family a happy new year.
Margaret
