A quick reminder to everyone who is not going to be in the country on May 6 – or is stranded abroad under the Icelandic ash cloud – that postal voting forms have to be back with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council by 5pm on Tuesday April 20.
Proxy voting forms must be returned to the council by 5pm on Tuesday April 27.
If you have any problems or questions about either postal or proxy voting, including filling in the form, please contact the Electoral Services Unit on 01482 393311.

Hi, Just recieved through the post today my wife’s and my voting notice, unfortunatly we will be out of the country so would like to vote by proxy. Hoever on the back of the notice we recieved today the deadline to register proxy votes has already lapsed Tues 20th Aprl. I tried to call the council this afternoon on all three numbers given and every time I was cut of without anyone answering the phone. I notice also that the deadline for proxy voting is 27th April so why such an early cut off date?
How can we vote or even get a proxy vote when we cant even get through to this council of ours…Its a shambles …
Please advise if you can as we would like to vote…please
Many thanks

John, the deadlines are for when the applications must be back with the council. If you want a proxy vote your application should reach the council no later than April 27. If that is going to cause you a problem please contact Sue Hedges at the Beverley and Holderness Conservative Association on Monday on 01482 881316 and she will ensure your vote is cast. Many thanks and I hope this helps.
Many thanks for the advice it does help and I will be in touch because I think we need all the votes we can get…
