Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, Graham Stuart MP, is calling for nominations to the Countryside Alliance’s annual business awards.
Graham said, “This is the 8th year that the Countryside Alliance have run these awards which have become known as the ‘Rural Oscars’ because they celebrate all that is great about rural life and business.
“Recognition of this type cannot be underestimated in terms of the boost it will give to our sense of pride and vitality alongside the area-wide marketing opportunities it will bring.
“Anybody can nominate a business for an award into the following categories: Local Food Award, Village Shop/Post Office Award, Rural Enterprise Award, Butcher Award and Start-up Award. So let’s take this opportunity to show the nation how great we are in East Yorkshire.”
Nominations are open now until the 29th October. For further information and to make a nomination then please visit www.countrysideallianceawards.org.uk.

This company started its life in a garden shed. It then grew to a garage and now has 2 units in Withernsea offering training and franchises. They are now about to expand to a THIRD unit (Possibly now in HULL). They specialise in leather repairs, be it large or small, and are now one of the largest manufacturers of leather care and repair products, and this has taken approximately 5 years. They are constantly expanding. This has only happend because of their dedication and long hours spent promoting their products and extensive leather repair service.
I have seen the leather repair company start off as a small one man band in a shed at Richards house and its amazing how its grown. I have never known anyone to work so hard in building a business as Richard has, I have arrived home from night shifts to drive past the factory at 3am only to see Richards vehicle at the factory units still working hard.
I have never known anyone so helpful as Richard he will go out of his way to help anyone who needs help.
he seems to be a man made of steel I have no idea how he does it and works so many hours a day 7 days a week.
He is very inspirational and has inspired me to work towards me starting my own business one day and is admired greatly by me and my wife for his dedication and the way he will always help charities and do fund raising for local organisations
I have seen him riding his push bike home from work in terrible rain at 1am after a long day that starts for him at around 5am every day.
He has helped so many on his way from the garden shed to what is now his two factory units and I have just seen that he is taking on board a third factory due to expansion.
I remember the days he just did the odd small leather repair, this has grown in to a world wide company manufacturing leather care and repair products supplying companies around the world, its amazing what he has done in the last few years.
But yet he still finds time for his family and friends
a truly remarkable person who is dedicated to what he does 150%.
