Graham Stuart MP responds to Post Office closure in Hornsea
Graham Stuart MP has contacted the Post Office on behalf of a number of residents who have been in touch with their concerns about the Hornsea branch in Cliff Road still being closed owing to a staff shortage.
On contacting the Post Office Graham has been told that the branch will remain closed whilst they try and find a new Postmaster to run the branch either on a short, or preferably, long term basis. The Post Office have informed Graham that the search to fill the post is well underway but that the branch cannot re-open until the position is filled.
Graham said “Hornsea Post Office is a vital service, relied on by a large number of Hornsea residents and its ongoing closure is particularly difficult in the context of proposed bank closures in the area. I will do all I can to ensure that a new Postmaster is found as soon as possible so the branch can re-open. If anyone is interested in the Postmaster role I would urge them to get in touch with me as soon as possible”.
Local councillor, Cllr Barbara Jefferson, has also been contacted by residents about the ongoing closure of the Post Office and said “This is such a vital facility for Hornsea residents. We do have another post office facility in the south of Hornsea, which is excellent, but residents in the north and surrounding villages also need access to one. So, if anyone out there is interested in the Postmaster position then please do get in touch.”
Anyone interested in the Hornsea Postmaster position should contact Graham at firstname.lastname@example.org who will pass expressions of interest on to the Post Office.
