First Jobs

If you are trying to get your first proper job, I want to hear from you.

Too many young people are being told they need experience to get a job, but cannot get experience without a job.

That is not fair. It is holding people back.

Local businesses want to hire. They need good staff. But when the cost and risk of employing someone rises, taking on a young person becomes harder to justify. First jobs disappear first.

I am fighting this in Parliament. This campaign is about getting you a fair start.

What happens next

I will use the responses to:

  • raise the issue directly with ministers
  • press for practical changes that make it easier to hire young people
  • share updates on what I am doing and what the Government says in response
