MP for Beverley and Holderness Graham Stuart, Conservative MP for Beverley & Holderness

Thank you for contacting me about plans for the England Coast Path.

I firmly support this project. It is worthwhile not only so more people can explore and enjoy our coastline, but also for the many benefits that tourism brings to local economies in coastal areas. We have some of the most spectacular coastline in the world, with iconic sites such as the White Cliffs at Dover and the picturesque beaches at Whitby attracting millions of tourists and walkers every year.

Our coast already attracts 300 million visits a year, with people spending up to three times more than at any other holiday destination. The South West stretch is already worth £400 million to the economy, offering new and improved access to some of the country’s best tourist hot spots.

Work is officially underway or complete along every stretch of the 2,700-mile England Coast Path.

I hope you will find this information helpful. Thank you again for taking the time to contact me.
