Beverley and Holderness MP, Graham Stuart, is encouraging students in Beverley and Holderness born between February 10th 2005 and February 10th 2007 to enter the Falklands Forty Schools Competition to win a once in a lifetime visit to the Falkland Islands.
The Falklands Forty Schools Competition is a project that has been created as part of a partnership between the Falkland Islands Government and academics from the University of Exeter, University of Newcastle and the Royal Holloway University. It has been designed to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the liberation of the Falkland Islands by giving eight young people aged 16-18 an opportunity to win a trip to visit them in February 2023.
In order to enter the competition, students have been asked to create either a film, podcast, essay or poster in response to the question: “What do the Falkland Islands mean to you?” and submit their entry by July 31st 2022 for it to be judged by a panel that will be led by the adventurer and author Ben Fogle.
Speaking about the competition, Graham said: “This is a wonderful competition offering young people in Beverley and Holderness a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit the Falkland Islands and learn more about its heritage and wildlife. I hope that many young people will enter, and I wish those that do every success.”
