Hedon Cash Hub working well as Graham pushes to fix early issues

Most banking services are now working at the Hedon Cash Hub, but a small number of issues are still causing problems for some customers.

People in Hedon can once again withdraw and deposit cash locally. That matters for residents and small businesses who rely on in-person banking.

The hub has been open since February, after Graham secured it with the backing of more than 2,000 local people.

As the service beds in, a few issues have been raised. Some customers have had problems depositing cheques, accessing savings accounts at the counter, or paying certain credit card bills where barcodes are not available.

Graham visited the hub, spoke to staff and customers, and acted straight away. He has written to Cash Access UK to get answers and is pushing for these issues to be fixed quickly. He will update residents as soon as he receives a response.

Graham has also been out in Hedon with Joyce Whittle and other local campaigners, speaking to residents and handing out leaflets created by the Town Council to make sure people know the hub is open and to hear directly about their experiences.

Graham said: “Most services at the hub are working well and it’s good to see people in Hedon able to bank locally again. That matters for residents and local businesses.

“But there are still a few issues. I’ve listened to staff and residents, and some people are being turned away for things like cheque deposits or bill payments. That needs fixing.

“I’ve written to Cash Access UK and I’m pushing to get this sorted quickly. I will update people as soon as I have answers.

“We worked hard with local people to secure this hub for Hedon and the surrounding villages. Now the focus is making sure it works properly day to day.

“If you’ve had problems using the hub, please get in touch with me so I can take that back and get it fixed.”
